Danish Zuberi currently works at Vellani and Vellani, Advocates and Legal Consultants in Karachi, where she independently conducts cases at the High Court of Sindh, the District Courts, and the Central Excise Appellate Tribunal at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. She also does corporate transactional work and general, commercial and corporate litigation.
While working for Fazle Ghani Advocates she directly assisted Senior Barrister Makhdoom Ali Khan in drafting and research in general commercial and constitutional litigation and also drafted the Written Arguments filed before the Lahore High Court, in the International Power Project Litigation along with two senior counsels. She did LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and Bar-at-Law from Gray’s Inn, London.
Since 1995, Zuberi has been involved in social activism, particularly with the NGO, War Against Rape (WAR), where she is a volunteer member of the five-member Executive Committee. At WAR, Zuberi has initiated and established the legal aid program for victims of rape and domestic violence, and manages sourcing of lawyers willing to handle cases in a voluntary capacity. Zuberi has represented WAR in NGO forums and organizations, including the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Shirkatgah.
She has conducted several workshops for Shirkatgah and WAR. Zuberi developed and drafted the Legal Structure for the Women’s Shelter Project initiated by National NGOs and supported by Amnesty International.
Along with her social activism and law work, Zuberi finds time to write for newspapers and magazines.
She is a member of The General Council of the Bar (UK), The Honourable Society of the Gray’s Inn, Sindh High Court Bar Association and the Karachi Bar Association.
