CEDR Awards for
excellence in ADR 2006
IFC’s Alternative Dispute Resolution project
in Pakistan has been honored with an Award for Excellence
by the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution in
the United Kingdom. The project won the award for
international achievement.
Over 200 mediation and legal experts involved in
dispute resolution attended the award ceremony in
London. In all, seven CEDR Awards for Excellence in
ADR were presented. On behalf of IFC, Jesper Kjaer,
the PEP-MENA’s general manager, and Navin Merchant,
the ADR program manager, accepted the award.
PEP-MENA launched the ADR project in November 2005
in cooperation with Pakistan’s government. The
project is establishing a pilot mediation centre in
Karachi, which will act as a mediation center and
training institute. The project will also create a
database of mediators, from which trained and certified
mediators can be drawn to help institutionalize and
sustain the training capacity of the mediation center
within the country.
