Zakir directs a senior management staff of 18 in 7 departments, responsible for 575 employees. He also manages operations generating 36 million rupees annually, with a record of increasing the market index of businesses from 1 to 1.11.

As Deputy Executive Director Zakir is responsible for reviewing financial management accounts, pursuing statutory requirements and taxation, reviewing the fiscal budget, administrating, formulating policies and procedures and over seeing development work on site.

He has been the Deputy Executive Director at Hashwani Hotels Ltd, where he was responsible for the overall operation of the company. As Executive Assistant Manager of the Islamabad Mariott Hotel, he personally handled foreign delegations such as the United Nations delegation led by His Excellency Kofi Annan, and met other dignitaries such as His Excellency Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Prime Minister of Japan, Indonesia and Bangladesh. He also directed and supervised all arrangements for the Islamic Summit in Islamabad in 1998.

As Auditor in Charge at Taseer Hadi Khalid and Co, Zakir audited various local and multinational organizations in different industrial sectors.
